Significance of the Puthandu or Tamil New Year, as per Mythology, is – it is believed that on this day Lord Brahma started the creation of the world. The first transaction is named Kai-Vishesham. This great day is celebrated with equal fervor and quest in the neighbouring country Sri Lanka.
